Barbados Home Rental Process

  1. Confirm your preferences:
    Minimum Bedrooms
    Special requirements (e.g. pets etc.)
    Preferred lease start date

  2. Review listings and identify favorites. These can be flagged automatically in your name on the rental portal

  3. Make arrangements to view properties with TERRA agent. If a viewing is not possible prior to your arrival in Barbados additional information can be provided

  4. After viewing, confirm a short list and identify preferred property

  5. Submit an offer through TERRA agent which will include the monthly rent, start date and any special requirements

  6. TERRA agent will negotiate on your behalf with the landlord

  7. Once rental terms are agreed, TERRA agent will prepare standard lease for approval by both parties (If applicable the furniture inventory will be confirmed)

  8. Lease is signed by both parties and initial payment is paid by tenant. Initial payment is usually first month’s rent plus a security deposit of one month’s rent (2 months total). Some landlords require first and last month’s rent plus a security deposit of one month’s rent (3 months total)

  9. In the event a home is reserved months in advance of your occupancy date, special arrangements may likely apply and these should be addressed on an individual basis

  10. Make arrangements with the owner to set up or transfer services such as electricity, phone, cable tv and internet etc. into your name. Standard forms for these services are available in the download section

  11. TERRA agent will coordinate the handover of keys and ensure you are settled in to your new home
